Stephen Curry Scouting Report: One Go-To Move Compared To Kobe Bryant’s Two

ST. IGNATIUS HIGH SCHOOL, SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Back in the beginning of September, when Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry was in Spain for the USA Basketball’s Men’s National Team (#USABMNT) road to the gold medal, Kobe Bryant spoke to a youth group in China and revealed that he only had two “go-to” moves.

It should be noted that many of the reactions of Bryant’s quip were matter-of-factly stating that a basketball player could go either left or right, essentially thumbing their noses at the “two moves” notion.

This past weekend at Curry’s annual youth camp, a reporter asked Stephen if he had any go-to moves as well.

“Probably just one,” Curry answered, “One go-to. I won’t give it away — maybe everybody knows it.”

Our guess?

Probably the buzzer beater that defeated the Boston Celtics this past January or the other buzzer-beater [NOTE: scroll down to the end of that article] that ended with Curry telling the Dallas Mavericks crowd, “We out,” in April.

The buzzer-beater was ranked 3rd in SportsIllustrated’s Top Ten Game-Winners of the 2013-14 NBA season.

Curry seemed to confirm this, right away, in the interview at his camp:

“If you’re in a situation where you need to get a shot off, you know which one you’re most comfortable with: Step-back, get a little bit of space, rise up and shoot it.”

Of course, Chris Paul knew of Curry’s one move already and successfully defended it in last season’s epic first-round 2013 NBA Playoffs series against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Curry has already said that he’s the second-most clutch shooter of all-time behind Michael Jordan, although he’s only had two so far, ranked 5th and 4th in ChatSports’ Top Five Warriors Game-Winners of 2013-14, so despite the unsuccessful attempt against Paul, we can probably expect Curry to keep taking the last shot of the game.
