ORACLE ARENA, OAKLAND, CA — The Golden State Warriors dominated the Memphis Grizzlies in a 101-86 Game 1 victory at #Roaracle tonight, but after the game, the Warriors said that although they were happy with the win, they were also bothered by the sloppiness.

“I always want my guys happy,” said head coach Steve Kerr at the post-game press conference, “but we’re going to have to be more solid in the rest of the series.”

Golden State finished with 15 turnovers, but committed 5 of them in the first quarter.

It apparently was not due to anxiousness, at least not as much as they had in Game 1 of the opening series against the New Orleans Pelicans.

“We were pretty comfortable and pretty composed and ready for the moment,” Stephen Curry said. “(We) didn’t try to do too much and win the game in the first three minutes like we did pretty much every game in the last series.”

Still, even with a 62-51 halftime lead, they committed a total of 9 turnovers in the first half, with the Grizzlies converting those into 15 points.

“We could have had probably 12 or 13 (turnovers),” Curry said. “There was a couple of loose balls that we were lucky to kind of recover.”

“I loved the effort. We were sloppy with the ball. That was the one thing that really bothered me,” said head coach Steve Kerr. “We had a chance to really break things open, but all in all, really pleased, good effort.”

“The first half, we were sloppy with the ball,” Festus Ezeli told reporters after the game. “We lost a man on back-cuts a couple times to Tony Allen.”

Bogut agreed.

“They run a lot of those split-cuts that we run, getting to the basket. There’s no excuse for that. Those are their kind of baskets that we need to clean up,” said Bogut. “If we give them easy an baskets or don’t let them work for it, we’re in trouble for the longevity of the series.”
