2015 NBA Finals: The Resurgence Of David Lee

QUICKEN LOANS ARENA, CLEVELAND, OH — The original article, which was a Game 3 recap centered around Golden State Warriors backup power forward David Lee, appears on BlacktopTV (click here).

Here’s an excerpt:

But Lee wasn’t done. On another screen-and-roll, he received the ball, attacked the rim, got hit outside the restricted area by James, and Mozgov swatted the shot out, but after it hit the backboard. After much pleading by the Warriors, the referees awarded Lee the and-one.
.
After that, Iguodala dribbled to the baseline, got stuck, found Lee in the paint, who found Barbosa for a layup, then Lee ran pick action once again with Curry up top, resulting in a switch with Tristan Thompson. Curry hit a step-back triple over Thompson.
.
“They trapped [Curry] some and he was able to throw out,” Lee said. “We were able to make some plays when we had a four-on-three on the back side, as well as they tried to switch it some.”
.
“He’s a playmaker,” Curry said of Lee. “So if they want to try the pick-and-roll in that situation, getting it to him on the free-throw line and him making plays, whether he’s finishing at the rim or finding some guys on the wings for open threes or open shots, that’s what he does.”
.
Lee did enough on the defensive end once more, disrupting a runner from James, and the Warriors capitalized as Curry got switched against Thompson again and, this time, took him to the hole for a pretty reverse layup with the right hand.
.
Just like that, Golden State had closed the seemingly insurmountable gap to 79-76, Cleveland, with 5:39 remaining in the game.
