Harrison Barnes ProCamps: Forward Talks About Campers, Oakland, and Autographs

Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes helped lead his Basketball ProCamps #HBCamp Saturday morning at the Jamtown indoor basketball facility in Oakland just off 880 and Embarcadero.

During the camp, Barnes spoke about his love for Oakland and feeling a need to make an impact on the community.

“Yeah, man. I love the city. This is my permanent residence year round,” the fourth-year forward said. “Oakland has just been home to me. So I definitely try to give back as much as I can.”

The Ames, Iowa native also offered some words of advice and encouragement to campers, who worked at a number of stations to improve specific skills at the camp.

“It’s all about the details for these guys. You know just focus on the little things,” Barnes, who told LetsGoWarriors he has been working on improving his post-up game and ball-handling earlier this summer, said. “Just to work hard and to go for your dreams. I mean, not everyone can be a basketball player but you carry that same philosophy of ‘This is my dream, this is goal, this is what I want to be’ and I’m gonna go for it.’”

Barnes seemed to be having a lot of fun around the campers, especially when playfully (and sometimes not so playfully) blocking their shots and beating them in knockout competitions.

Barnes also admitted that he’s a little behind on sending back items fans have sent to his PO box to be signed, but is in the process of catching up.

“I’m a summer behind. So I’m just starting to finish getting some of those out. Got a little busy with last season but trying to get all those out as soon as I can.”
