WARRIORS PRACTICE FACILITY, OAKLAND, CA — Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson reacts when a reporter tells him about Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers saying the Warriors “got lucky” in winning the NBA Finals.
With a cheek full of sunflower seeds, Thompson said, “That sounds real bitter. That sounds pretty bitter to me and that’s fine. I mean, at the end of the day we’re still the champs so you don’t really pay attention to any of the comments, you know. All you gotta do is look up at that banner we have.”
“If we got lucky, look at our record against them last year. I’m pretty sure we smacked them.”
“Didn’t they lose to the Rockets? Exactly. Yeah, so that just makes me laugh. That’s funny. Weren’t they up 3-1 too? Yeah, tell ’em I said that. That’s funny. That’s funny.”
Warriors staff writer Brian Witt then started a new, unrelated question by saying, “Changing gears,” but Bay Area News Group reporter Diamond Leung jokingly interjected, “No,” since Thompson was giving such salacious quotes.
Later, after a question about his dog being on his bobblehead for a giveaway this season at Oracle Arena, Thompson went back to the subject of the Clippers, unsolicited, adding as he got out of hus chair and headed to the locker room, “I wanted to play the Clippers last year, but they couldn’t handle their business.”
