Stephen Curry: “There’s A Bunch Of Different Stories” With Warriors’ Championship Rings

WARRIORS PRACTICE FACILITY, OAKLAND, CA — The de facto leaders of the Golden State Warriors, point guard Stephen Curry, power forward Draymond Green, and small forward Andre Iguodala, helped design the team’s championship rings, which will be unveiled before the Warriors’ 2015-16 season opener at Oracle Arena against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The rings are being produced by Jason Arasheben, the Jason Of Beverly Hills, designer of the Los Angeles Lakers‘ title rings from 2009 and 2010.

According to the company’s website, Arasheben’s clients have included Princess Latifa Al-Saud of Saudia Arabia, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Matthew McConaughey, and Michael Jackson. Jason Of Beverly Hills has two locations: at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, NV and the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.

A press release announcing the Warriors’ partnership with Jason of Beverly Hills last month also named the World Series Of Poker, Rihanna, Dwyane Wade, and LeBron James as clients.

Grace Goodrich of the Los Angeles Business Journal reported that the Warriors selected Arasheben over six other candidates including Tiffany & Co.

“Me, Andre and Draymond had a lot of input on what we liked and didn’t like,” Curry told LetsGoWarriors earlier this month during training camp.

Said Warriors assistant general manager Kirk Lacob in the press release, “These rings will serve as lifelong reminders of our record-breaking journey to the title for our players, coaches and staff and will be something each member of our organization will forever treasure. The meticulous attention to detail in the custom design process exemplified by Jason of Beverly Hills will result in a ring that represents our team, region and history in a unique manner.”

Curry confirmed those thematic elements.

“There’s a bunch of different stories behind the amount of diamonds, the placement, the certain designs that you’ll see when it comes out,” Curry explained. “It’s something that’s going to be very symbolic of the history of the organization, all of the players that were on the team and the regular season accomplishments that we had that obviously we finished off.”

On its website Jason Of Beverly Hills boasts that it “gained a reputation for creating one-of-a-kind diamond pieces.” If the Lakers’ 2010 rings are any indication, expect the Warriors’ rings to be just that: over-the-top.

According to Sports-Rings.com:

Jason of Beverly Hills designed and manufactured one of the most amazing championship rings I have ever seen – the 2009 Lakers ring. So many championship rings are labeled “amazing” but the 2009 Lakers ring is in a class of its own.
.
First off, gold is usually made in 10K or 14K and sometimes 18k. But never in-between, until they made the Lakers ring. A special batch of 15 karat gold was mixed and used to commemorate the 15 historic championships for the Lakers.
.
Next, and also unbelievable, for the first time in championship ring history, each player is immortalized with their own face and uniform number on their individual championship ring.
.

“I won’t spoil the details of that, but there are — it’s a lot of of detail to the ring, not just putting diamonds all over it making it shine,” Curry said.

We asked Green and Iguodala to provide some more insight, but they chose to keep the Warriors’ design a closely guarded secret.

“Uh yeah, a few guys had some input on it. We added a few things. It went well,” Green told us.

“I don’t know nothin’ about that,” said Iguodala.

Perhaps they’re just saving those thoughts for the moment when all the players finally see their rings at the ring ceremony before tipoff. Arasheben, who will be in attendance at the game, told Goodrich, “That’s the real reward, when you see all the players’ faces opening that box.”
