The Golden State Warriors were at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, LA to face the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Warriors were without Andrew Bogut, out indefinitely with a concussion.
The Pelicans added Toney Douglas to their roster and waived Nate Robinson while Omer Asik and Luke Babbitt, who were out for the previous game against the Warriors just four nights ago, were expected to play.
1st Quarter
Anthony Davis, who shot just 4-for-21 on Tuesday against the Warriors, got off to a slow start again, while Klay Thompson, stiff back and all, got his first bucket, a long two on a hand-off from Draymond Green, to drop.
Later, Thompson got a cutting layup fed by Green after knocking away an attack in transition from Davis, but before that, Stephen Curry had a couple #StephGonnaSteph highlights.
After Jrue Holiday missed a layup, Curry led the break, went with a lefty behind-the-back dribble and fed Harrison Barnes for the attack, but Barnes couldn’t convert and Dante Cunningham got credited with the block:

Later, Davis missed a jumper, Curry brought the ball up and Davis got switched on him. Davis tried his best to both Steph, even poking the ball out, but Curry recovered his dribbled and launched from Mississippi:

Curry added this stop and pop at the top of the circle:
…then also added a three-pointer in the face of two Pelicans, but New Orleans stayed close as Ryan Anderson made a trey with 42 seconds remaining.
For the Warriors, it was all Curry (10 points), Thompson (8), Green (7) — ,who had a nice sequence in which he drew a charge on Davis off the ball on a fast break (no call), then came back and drilled a straightaway three on the other end — and Andre Iguodala (6) with the points, as Golden State took a slim 31-28 lead into the second stanza.
2nd Quarter
The Warriors went ahead by 8 points, 41-33, with 8:50 to go after some nice plays:
- Leandro Barbosa got an immediate layup going backdoor and fed by Barnes,
- Iguodala got a steal, Shaun Livingston led the break, and dished to Iguodala for a right-handed dunk,
- Barnes rose over Luke Babbitt for a layup,
- Pelicans center Alexis Ajinca missed two bunnies near the hoop, and
- Anderson missed a dunk on a slip pass by Eric Gordon then Iguodala drew two defenders on the transition and found Barbosa open on the right wing for a triple.
New Orleans head coach Alvin Gentry smartly called timeout to stem the tide. He did, as Marreese Speights came out of the timeout with a turnover and Anderson capped a 6-0 run with a jumper, forcing Golden State interim head coach Luke Walton to call a timeout as well.
The rest of the quarter would be closely fought, but Thompson buoyed the Warriors after Curry got a beautiful teardrop to fall with Douglas draped all over him:

Thompson made a nice hesitation dribble on the left side and finished with the right hand off glass, a trey from the deep left wing in transition, and this reverse layup:
Curry drew a three-point shooting foul on Holiday after zig-zagging him with the dribble up top, but also committed one himself against Douglas with 2 seconds on the shotclock, while Holiday hit a big three and Barbosa got a steal on a lazy pass by Davis for a fastbreak layup.
The foul on Curry gave him three personals and he had to sit down with 2:30 remaining.
Babbitt hit a three that was after the buzzer and the Pelicans had a 65-64 lead going into halftime.
