ORACLE ARENA, OAKLAND, CA — Back on November 9th, 2015, the Golden State Warriors had just disposed of the Detroit Pistons, 109-95, and after the game we caught up with point guard Shaun Livingston to talk about the Warriors’ relatively new bench ritual for made three-pointers.

First off, here are some examples:

Livingston confirmed to us that he brought the three-point celebration that the team does, from Alan Anderson during Livingston’s time with Anderson on the Brooklyn Nets.

Here are some examples of Anderson’s celebration:

While giving full credit to Anderson for the inspiration, Livingston told us that the more refined celebration you see today on the Warriors’ bench is theirs.

“I adopted it, I brought it here, I refined it and we got our own version,” said Livingston.

How does Anderson feel about it?

“He don’t like it when he sees it out there,” said Livingston. “He sees it publicized when he sees it on TV, but I tell him I gave him the proper reference. He dropped it off, I took it and refined it, and now it’s ours.”

There’s actually a name for it, but it’s not PG-13.

“I can’t really say on the air,” said Livingston. “I’ll get fined.”

Trillestablishment, a local fashion designer, came up with a tweak of his original “#3god” design from last year to add another wrist in alignment with Livingston’s celebration. We are currently carrying a limited-time production run of the 3god apparel collection.

[NOTE: Shaun Bowes contributed (heavily) to this report. Also thanks to Trillest for coming up with the design (before we even knew about this) and our good friends at Savs for the happenstance collaboration (at least from our point of view) with Trillest!]
