PRESEASON FINAL RECAP WITH HIGHLIGHTS: Warriors (1-1) Wallop Los Angeles Clippers (0-1), 120-75

ORACLE ARENA, OAKLAND, CA — This is a continuation of the halftime recap of the Los Angeles Clippers at the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors took a commanding 71-33 lead into halftime.

3rd Quarter – 3×3

Golden State began the third frame scoring in multiples of three. Stephen Curry hit a catch-and-shoot from the left wing on a feed from the post by Draymond Green, Green fed Kevin Durant for three more on the right wing, then Klay Thompson hit two consecutive triples.

The first was on a left baseline drive as Curry slung the ball to KD in the corner, who hit Thompson on the right arc:

Then after J.J. Redick missed from deep, Draymond got the board and ran the length of the floor to find Klay on the left side for another splash:

Anderson Varejao got his first call off the bench with 7:30 remaining and Austin Rivers on the line, and after the free throws, Draymond drove in to feed Durant at the rim, who then flipped the ball to a cutting Varejao for contact and a typical “Andy” circus shot, plus the foul.

After a timeout, Varejao missed the and-one.

Steph swished a three from the left wing, Marreese Speights drove in for his 11th and 12th points, and after Varejao threw a bad pass to Andre Iguodala, Austin Rivers attacked the paint and promptly got volleyball-swatted by Durant.

With 6:09 remaining and the Warriors up by fifty-three, 89-36, Golden State head coach Steve Kerr took out all of his starters.

The lineup for the next few minutes would consist of Ian Clark, Patrick McCaw, Iguodala, David West and Varejao.

McCaw continued to impress, hitting a step-back jumper, assisted by Iguodala, and a three, assisted by West.

Varejao also added a feed into West for a bucket, Iguodala hit a jumper, and by the time the third quarter mercifully came to the end, the Warriors held a 102-51 lead, with McCaw missing barely at the buzzer, claiming he got fouled.

Thompson led all scorers with 30 points on 6 treys.

4th Quarter – JaVale Finally Gets Some Burn

Kerr continued to go deep into his bench with Phil Pressey, McCaw, Cameron Jones, James McAdoo and JaVale McGee to start the final frame.

Jones got a nice layup off a jump-ball tipped to him for the break-away layup, and the Clips had Paul Pierce for some minutes and he hit a jumper.

McCaw made a nice pass to McGee at the rim and his dunk got fouled and made one of two throws.

Scott Wood even checked in with less than eight minutes to go.

Xavier Mumford made a three and-one and a nice swat of McCaw for the Clippers, but the game ended unceremoniously with the Warriors winning by the score of 120-75.

Thompson led all scorers with 30 points on 10-for-14 shooting, 6-for-9 from deep, Durant added 21 points and 7 rebounds, Green grabbed 9 boards, and Curry dished out 5 assists to go along with 14 points.

Former Warrior Marreese Speights led the Clippers with 14 points.

The Warriors (1-1) will face the Sacramento Kings in two nights in an exhibition game in San Jose, CA.
