T-MOBILE ARENA, LAS VEGAS, NV — This is a continuation of the halftime recap of the Golden State Warriors at the Los Angeles Lakers preseason game.
3rd Quarter –
Ian Clark, Patrick McCaw, Kevin Durant, Kevon Looney, and Zaza Pachulia got the start in the second half, effectively ending the nights for Klay Thompson (24 points) and Stephen Curry 14 points.
McCaw got off on the right foot with a three from the top.
Looney was exceptional at getting to the ball, getting an offensive rebound by reaching over a defender. Looney then drew a charge on Julius Randle and followed that up with a driving bounce pass to Pachulia for an open jumper on the right baseline.
Both teams traded turnovers, then D’Angelo Russell fired this touchdown pass to Randle:

But the Warriors recovered and Looney got this slam dunk:

Cameron Jones checked in for Durant at the 7:45 mark with the Warriors up, 80-53, the Lakers went on a mini-run that was capped off with a dunk, and Golden State head coach Steve Kerr called a timeout with 6:30 remaining.
Kerr inserted McGee and JaVale immediately got into the action, getting this putback slam…

…that was followed up by a jump hook, plus buckets by James McAdoo and Phil Pressey.
Pressey also found Shaun Livingston on a cut and Lakers head coach Luke Walton called a timeout with 2:30 to play and the Warriors up, 94-63.
The Lakers ended the quarter on a 10-0 run helped by Warriors turnovers and Los Angeles threes, punctuated with a Brandon Ingram triple from the right corner as the buzzer sounded.
The Warriors still maintained a 96-79 lead heading into the final frame.
4th Quarter – JaVale’in
After Pressey starting things off with a jumper, McCaw fed Looney for a dunk, and with 9:03 to go, the Warriors held a 17-point lead at 100-83.
But the Lakers went on mini-run capped Ivica Zubac jumper to trim the Golden State lead to 102-90.
McGee looked good, getting a block on Thomas Robinson, but the Warriors had trouble scoring, with McGee missing a layup and McCaw forcing a three, although McCaw did have a nice soft putback slam of a missed fast break layup.
Shortly thereafter, McGee missed two free throws and the Warriors were in the doldrums when McCaw and McGee teamed up again, this time “P-Nice” finding JaVale for the emphatic slam over Robinson:

That also gave McGee an impressive 12 points and the Warriors a 108-96 lead as the bench of the Lakers was running out of time catching up with that of Golden State.
JaVale added a swat at the other end and, later, so did McCaw.
Still, despite Looney finding Ian Clark, who also had a nice spin in the lane for a jumper, on a cut and another McGee dunk, this time assisted by Cameron Jones, Los Angeles managed to get within seven points.
Robinson drew foul on rebound and a made bucket, and his free throw made it 112-105, Warriors, but with just 1:21 left.
After a series of empty possessions, Robinson closed the gap to the final score of 112-107, with just 16.9 seconds remaining.
Thompson led all scorers with 24 points on 4-for-6 from downtown, Durant added 17 on 7-for-11 field, and Curry 14.
Nick Young came off the bench to accumulate a team-high 17 points for the Lakers, but Jordan Clarkson and D’Angelo Russell combined to shoot just 7-for-20.
The Warriors (4-1) have the day off tomorrow, then travel to San Diego for a game in four nights against the Lakers again.
