TWITTERVERSE, WORLD WIDE WEB — The Golden State Warriors suffered a crushing season-opening blowout loss to the San Antonio Spurs three nights ago.
While for some fans the loss was magnified into laments for the acquisition of Zaza Pachulia and — with the stark difference in rebounding — even had some in DubNation hinting that the pursuit of Kevin Durant wasn’t worth the loss of rim-protector Andrew Bogut.
For others, the loss created an opportunity for fans to have some fun at the expense of the “sky-is-falling” clique, by offering some over-the-top jokes:
3. “0-82 #Tank”
‘Nuff said, from @AGreatTimeOut. Warriors general manager Bob Myers channeling his inner Sam Hinkie.
2. All About Winning Championships
“Warriors miss playoffs, both KD and Steph so disgusted they sign elsewhere during the offseason,” said @athletics_dubs.
For the record, Durant ended his first game of the season with 27 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Stephen Curry tallied 26 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds.
1. Rebuild Around “McGawd”
Rookie guard Patrick McCaw has been very good in the preseason for the Warriors, including a buzzer-beating win and an outstanding NBA opener in the preseason game at Vancouver, where McCaw ended with 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting from the field.
McCaw’s been such a fan favorite that he’s earned nicknames like “McGOAT” and “McGawd”.
“(Myers) trades everyone to build around McCaw,” said @genericlogin after the blowout loss on opening night.
Always good to have a poke a little fun at yourself to get over the tough losses.
