Buchholz’s Ride Only Goes as Far North as Pawtucket

Clay Buchholz was shelled today but the team had already decided to use Brad Penny as the #5 starter. Today he got the news:

After the game, Buchholz was informed that he will most likely begin the season at Triple-A Pawtucket. But that had virtually nothing to do with the righty giving up nine hits and six runs over 5 1/3 innings in a Grapefruit League contest.

With the way he had been pitching before today’s game it is likely that we will see him in Boston before the break.
