Bearcats Suspension Roundup: Moore Back, Morman Gone

lemieuxstance

If you were out of the loop for a number of reasons this weekend like the humble writer of this blogpost was, you might have noticed that Quadri Moore was on the bench during the Houston game. Quadri Moore is back with the Bearcats following a two game suspsension for … something. That’s good for Quadri.

The flipside of this is that now Deshaun Morman has taken a mission away from the squad. He’s become the third Bearcat suspended this season. Jamaree Stickland was suspended and then opted to transfer. We can hope than Morman’s suspension is more like Moore’s and not like Strickland’s.

Larry Davis adressed this in his Houston post game (starts at 3:37)

“Right now, at the University of Cincinnati, we have a great tradition of Bearcats who do the right things on and off the floor. We pull through our teammates. That’s how we built this program. And Deshaun’s not fulfilling that right at the moment, so he will not be with us as a result of that. But it’s, it’s more, we built a culutre here about how we conduct ourselves, how we pull together as a team and the things that we do. That’s sacred to Mick, that’s sacred to me. Because that’s been long established. We want to teach guys how to be the right kind of people, as well as a good player and how you have to handle all kinds of situations in life. And you know guys are young guys, like Quadri Moore. He made a mistake. He did some things that caused him to be separated from the team for a while. He’s back. Deshaun Morman will have the same chance. We’ll see what happens. This is about teaching guys how to be young men, as well as good basketball players. And for the all the Bearcats that came before him, who were soldiers and did the right thing. We have to preserve the culture and the culture’s the most important thing. We’ve been to 4 straight NCAA tournaments because we have a culture of how to do things the right way and winning and how to be a teammate and down the line, how to act on the court, off the court.”
