The Red Sox are soon going to clinch a playoff spot and a celebration will take place shortly thereafter. We can only hope that the team will turn away from the scripted celebrations that have been all too common in sports. You know exactly what they look like; someone in the organization will put plastic sheeting around the locker room as a victory looks like a reality. After the game players will come in and be given new shirts (which you will see featured on MLB.com and in you email inbox a few hours later for the low price of $19.99) and then a few players will put on the readily available ridiculous looking champagne goggles and begin spraying their teammates. A manager or coach will inevitably be sprayed with bubbly while they are being interviewed on T.V. and the perpetrator will think it is the funniest thing ever. Yawn.
