Cliff Lee Shuts Down the Yankees

Phillies starter Cliff Lee pitched a complete game and gave up just six hits without walking anyone.  He struck out ten Yankees including Teixeira twice and A-Rod three times.

Chase Utley got the Phillies started with a homer into the short porch in right in the third inning and hit another in the sixth.  The two solo homers were the only runs that Sabathia would give up.  The Yankees pen gave up two runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth.

Lee came out to pitch the ninth and gave up two quick hits to Jeter and Damon.  Teixeira grounded out but drove in Jeter for the Yankees only run of the game.  Lee then struck out A-Rod and Posada to win the game.

Phillies win Game One 6-1.
