If there is a free agent shortstop or second basemen you can be pretty sure that the Red Sox have shown some interest. Rob Bradford reports that Boston has inquired about Orlando Hudson, the Dodgers second basemen who was not offered arbitration. Signing Hudson would require Pedroia to move over to short. It is still likely the Sox will sign Scutaro if he will agree to a 2-year deal, if not, shifting Pedroia becomes an option because after Scutaro the free agent shortstop list is pretty thin.
