The Red Sox finally get busy as the Winter Meeting are coming to a close. If the Lowell-Rangers deal goes through, and it likely will, the Red Sox really need to pick up another first or third basemen. Beltre is an option but he is not a disciplined hitter at the plate like the typical player Theo is usually interested in. Boras may price Beltre out of reach and the Sox could look at other options. Max Ramirez could be turned around and traded in a package for Adrian Gonzalez. (yes please!)
There is some news on the Jason Bay front: The Red Sox are concerned about him holding up health-wise in a long term deal. (sounds like a thinly veiled negotiating tactic) If anybody wants to throw in a 5th year they will land J-Bay. The Mets may be interested now but the Angels appear to be out.
The Red Sox are also negotiating with Darren Oliver for some bullpen help.
