Look at the Red Sox Lineup for next season as it stands right now:
Ellsbury-CF
Pedroia-2B
Youk-3B
Martinez-C
Ortiz-DH
Drew-RF
Hermida-LF
Scutaro-SS
Kotchman-1B
Does this look like a lineup that could win the A.L. East? What do the Sox do if Ortiz struggles again? Once again Scott Boras holds all the cards for the Red Sox needs; Beltre and Holliday are his clients. So this means if the Sox want to be at the same level they were at last season they are going to need to spend big. Red Sox Nation wants some improvement this offseason and increased spending without getting a better team is not going to cut it. The Adrian Gonzalez talks have stalled and the free agent market is pretty weak. The Sox might be better off by taking a pass on Holliday and Beltre and make this a true bridge year and cross their fingers on Hermida and Kotchman. If the rotation stays healthy they could be a playoff team with a little luck.
