The Boston Red Sox have signed free agent pitcher John Lackey to a 5-year deal worth close to $85 million. The Red Sox now have arguably the best rotation in baseball with Beckett, Lester, Lackey, Matsuzake, Buchholz and Wakefield. The signing of Lackey also opens up the possibilty of Buchholz being used in a trade.
Lackey has a career record of 3 wins and 7 losses at Fenway with an ERA of 5.25 a WHIP of 1.64 and opponents hit .303 agianst him.
UPDATE: ESPN Boston puts the deal at $82.5 million.
