SI.com is reporting that the Mets plan to sign Jason Bay pending a physical. ESPN.com has the details of the deal:
Jason Bay has reached agreement on a four-year, guaranteed $66 million contract with the Mets, a baseball source confirmed to ESPN.com Tuesday.. The deal includes a vesting option year that could increase Bay’s overall payout to slightly more than $80 million over five years.
The Red Sox deal was for 4 years and $60 million. It looks like Bay wanted money more than staying in Boston.
