The Boston Globe reported today that Mike Lowell’s thumb surgery was considered a success today. They reported that he had a 95% tear in the ligament in his thumb, but that it was able to be repaired. Mikey will return to his home in Florida tomorrow to recover and he should be ready for prime time play in 6-8 weeks.
Now the question is…what team will he be playing for? I’ll openly admit, I am a Mikey Lowell fan. I don’t get the point of paying his salary and watching him play for another team. He had the hip surgery last off season and suffered as a result last year. Many people say it takes about 1.5 years to fully recover from the surgery, so we should see an improved Mike in 2010…or at least that is what I am hoping for.
If Adrian Gonzalez is coming to town…fine…I understand why Mikey is being shopped around. However is there anyone out there who would really rather have Casey Kotchman’s bat in the lineup instead of Mikey Lowell’s???
