It seems that Scott Boras may have peaked as an agent and become too big to give good representation to all of his clients. Felipe Lopez fired him and moved on to another agent because Boras could not find him a team. Johnny Damon also remains a free agent as equipment trucks roll toward spring training locations in Florida and Arizona. G.M.’s are now on to Boras’ “mystery team” tactic. Boras’s negotiation tactics with the Angels over Mark Teixeira alienated owner Arte Moreno so much that the team didn’t go after Matt Holliday this offseason. Some cracks are appearing in Boras’ empire as we get ready for the 2010 season.
