Red Sox right-hander Daisuke Matsuzaka has a sore back that is expected to sideline him for the start of spring training, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. However, the injury is not expected to keep Matsuzaka from being ready for the start of the season.
All of the extra work this winter may not pay off for Matsuzaka and may further muddy the rotation situation.
