The Red Sox will have Clay Buchholz on the mound today against the Royals. Buchholz will be making his first start of the season in a situation that comes with a little bit of pressure. He finished spring training with a good start and has good numbers in his two career starts against the Royals (2.84 ERA 1.18 WHIP with opponents batting only .250) so he should be in a good place to deliver a win today. He has the added pressure because Dice-K pitched well for the PawSox yesterday and Wakefield had a good start on Friday night. The fifth starter issue was left unresolved this spring and will come back once Matsuzaka rejoins the team. Buchholz could make his case today in Kansas City and solidify a spot in the rotation which could send Matsuzaka to the bullpen as some are already suggesting.
