Daisuke Matsuzaka had another great start for the PawSox today. He pitched six scoreless innings without walking any batters and only gave up three hits. Tito says he needs about three more starts in the minors before joining the team. Dice-K thinks he is ready now:
“I think I’ve thrown enough pitches at this point to be ready to pitch in the big leagues,” Matsuzaka told reporters in Buffalo. “When compared to the second time I went on the DL last year, it took me a really long time to have that feeling. You can’t even compare them right now. I’m confident I can pitch in the big leagues.”
Alan Embree decided not to opt out of his contract and to remain with the PawSox longer in the hope of eventually making the big club.
David Ortiz has a new headache to deal with; he is being sued by rapper Jay-Z over the naming rights to a nightclub in the Dominican Republic. He may also be concerned about a truth in advertising lawsuit from fans because his “En Fuego” hot sauce has the image of a player pointing to the sky after reaching home on a home run trot; something that Ortiz has yet to do this season.
