The X-rays were negative on Kevin Youkilis’ thumb after he left last night’s game in the second inning. He will undergo and MRI today to make sure there is no serious damage:
“We need to see what happens [Tuesday]. Sometimes, when you get jammed like that, it can be as small as a broken blood vessel. It hurts like heck and then it goes away,” said Francona. “We’ll see how he’s doing.”
The Sox can illafford to lose Youk as the team is just starting to get healthy and barely holding on to playoff hopes.
