The Red Sox had a chance to pick up ground in the division with the Yankees and Rays both losing and an 8-2 lead. Boston scored seven runs and had three homers in the fourth inning alone. Beckett and the bullpen let the Rangers back in the game. (Papelbon and MDC did pitch well.) Rangers tied it in the eighth and won it in the eleventh when Nelson Cruz hit a walk-off homer on Tim Wakefield’s first pitch of the night.
