The Red Sox announced their next round of cuts this Spring. We are getting mighty close to seeing what the final 25 of the roster will look like.
The Sox optioned Scott Atchison, Ryan Kalish and Michael Bowden to Pawtucket. Rich Hill, Brandon Duckworth and Andrew Miller were also reassigned to AAA Pawtucket. Sutton and Spears have also been told they will be reassigned to Pawtucket, but that it has not happened yet.
So, it looks like the final two spots in the bullpen come down to: Matt Albers, Alfredo Aceves, Dennys Reyes and Hideki Okajima. In terms of options, I believe Aceves and Okajima have minor league options (please correct me if I am wrong) and Albers and Reyes are out of options. Reyes had today as an opt out date in terms of his contract. He has extended his opt out date until tomorrow.
So, if I am correct with options…that means that Oki and Aceves could be sent to Pawtucket and called up if and when they are needed. That would make the decision somewhat easier for me…I’d put Albers and Reyes in the bullpen.
If you had to pick the final two spots in our bullpen…who would you go with???
