Dice-K pitched well in tonight’s final Mayor’s Cup match-up with the Twins, and he put the Sox in a good position to win their fifth straight Mayor’s Cup. Boston had a 5 run lead when Bobby Jenks came into the game in the 9th. He gave up 6 runs on 5 hits, a walk, and a wild pitch, and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. The loss was the ninth in a row for the Red Sox. Good thing these things don’t count.
