So, the Red Sox can’t win them all….I guess. Kyle Weiland took the mound for the Sox again and hoped to either get the win or at least not get ejected this time. Weiland pitched 6 innings, 6 H, 3 R, 3 BBs, 2 Ks. He wasn’t stellar, but he also wasn’t half bad either. When Weiland left the mound, the Os were clinging to a 3-2 lead. Those 2 Sox runs were scored by a 2 run HR by Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Salty sure loves playing and hitting homers against the Os. However, the Os blew the game open in the bottom of the 8th when Aceves gave up back to back homers to Lee and Reynolds. Aceves has been so lights out lately that it was surprising to say, but I guess you get to have a stinker every once in a while.
The good news is that Tampa beat New York last night, so we’re still leading the AL East by 1.5 games.
