Wake Will Have to Wait for 200

Tim Wakefield had a chance to get his 200th career win last night against the White Sox, but unfortunately he made one mistake too many and the Red Sox bats didn’t come to life to help him out.

Wake pitched well, but the difference was some White Sox small ball, a passed ball and then a 2 run homerun.  Wake’s pitching line was 7 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 2 BBs, 5 Ks.  However, at the same time the Red Sox offense had a hard time getting anything started against Gavin Floyd.  Salty hit a solo HR in the 3rd, but that is all that they could get to cross the plate.  Pedroia went 0 for 4 to put an official end to his hitting streak.  The only Red Sox to get any hits at all were Salty, Sutton and Scutaro.

The good news is that the Yankees lost last night as well, so while we lost we didn’t let those Yanks creep up on us in the standings.

Hopefully tomorrow behind Jonny Lester we find a way to actually beat those Other Sox.
