I’m beginning to think that Wake is never gonna get win No. 200. I had such high hopes that yesterday was gonna be it for him, but sadly it was not to be. He’ll have to wait for another day to get that fantastic milestone. Hopefully, 5 days from now.

Wake seemed to be coasting along until the 3rd inning. Wake allowed the first run to score by giving up a walk to Wells. Wells made it to third base when he attempted a steal and Salty made a bad throw to second base. Wells scored on a Wilson single. Wake gave up a single to Seager to put runners on first and third. Things went from bad to worse on the next play. Wake got what seemed like a double play ball, but when all was said and done everyone was safe and the bases were loaded. The ump said that Jed Lowrie did not tag the base the runner beat out the throw to first base. My response to that ump call: &*^^$%&(&**&*. I think that sums it up. Wake gave up 2 more runs before ending the inning and now he was trailing 3-0.
The Sox bats had a hard time getting anything going against Furbush. Jed Lowrie did get one run back in the 4th on a sac fly. However, Wake gave that run right back in the bottom of the 5th. Wake then gave up a solo HR in the 6th to Wells. The hole seemed to be getting bigger by the minute and the bats didn’t seem like they were able to climb out of it. In the 8th, Youkilis gave us a moment of hope when he hit a 2 run HR to bring the Sox within 2 runs. However, in the 9th the Sox wouldn’t be able to get anything going against the Mariners’ closer Brandon League.
The Red Sox lost their first series since losing the series to the Phillies in June. It’s been a while. Let’s not do that again. The Sox are off on Monday and then play a quick 3 game series with Tampa.
