Sox WIN BIG in Game 2!

The Sox won the 2nd game of the doubleheader and they won it BIG!  It was just the kind of game they needed and let’s hope they build on this game and just WIN, WIN, WIN!

The Sox went down early and it looked like this game was heading from bad to worse in the 1st inning.  Lackey gave up 3 runs before the Sox bats even got a chance.  However, the Sox bats gave him the lead right back.  The Sox had the bases loaded and Pedey got a ground out to have the Sox lead 1-0.  Then Jed Lowrie who was back in the lineup hit a 3 run HR to have the Sox leading 4-3.  Nice Jedi!  The Sox chased Matusz from the game in the 2nd with a Scutaro RBI double.  Pedey hit an RBI single to have the Sox leading 6-3.

Lackey found himself a little bit of bad luck in the 3rd.  Lackey struck out Guerrero but the ball got away from Varitek and he reached.  Then Lackey just couldn’t put the next batter away.  Lackey ended up having the bases loaded and gave up a 2 run RBI to Reimold.  Sox 6-5.  However, in the bottom of the 3rd the Sox bats got going again.  Jed walks and steals 2nd base and is knocked in by DMac.  DMac probably should have been out, but he ended up reaching and heading to 2nd on a throwing error.  Sox took advantage.  Ells hit an RBI double, Marco hit an RBI single, Pedey RBI single and Papi and RBI single.  Sox lead 11-5.

Lackey gave up another run in the 4th and then in the 5th found more trouble.  He gave an RBI sac fly to Reimold and then an RBI single to Adams.  Tito came in and got Lackey and replaced him with Scott Atchison.  Atchy got 4 outs, both by way of the double play.  He got a DP in the 5th and another one in the 6th.  Atchy was replaced by Franklin Morales in the end of the 6th.  Morales gave up an RBI double and then got out of the inning when Guerrero tried to stretch a double to a triple.  In the top of the 7th, Morales got one out and the Matt Albers came out and got two outs by way of the K.  This is the second outing in a row that Albers has looked good.  *fingers crossed*

The bottom of the 7th is when the Sox just blew this game wide open.  WIDE OPEN.  Ells hit a leadoff INSIDE THE PARK HOMERUN!  Wowza.  Once that ball hit off the bullpen wall and jetted towards LF, Ells knew if he kept trucking he could make it in.  It was followed by Pedey and Jed hitting RBI singles.  And then with the bases loaded and no outs, Conor Jackson hits a GRAND SLAM over the Monster.  This inning was EPIC!

The Red Sox won this one and they WON IT BIG!  The Sox are still sitting 2 games ahead of the Rays in the wild card race since the Rays were off today.  Let’s Go Sox!
