Two months after Terry Francona was dismissed the Red Sox continue to drift aimlessly. The seach for a manager has turned comical and will end with a compromise candidate taking the helm of the team. The dysfunction on Yawkey Way is now causing the Red Sox to miss out on free agents.
After letting Papelbon walk without making a contract offer the Red Sox were left with a hole in the bullpen. One of their potential targets was Jonathan Broxton but those plans went awry today when Broxton signed with the Royals. Broxton wanted to sign before the Winter Meetings which was too soon for the Red Sox. This is not the first time the Red Sox have been slow to react and were left empty-handed, ealier they were caught off-guard when outfielder Grady Sizemore re-signed with Cleveland. They also let Nathan sign with the Rangers without making an offer. Is there a plan to fix the team that did not make the playoffs last year?
The Winter Meetings start next Monday in Dallas. Prepare to be underwhelmed Red Sox Nation.
