Jacoby Ellsbury injured his left shoulder in a collision while sliding into second in today’s game. You can view the video of the collision here. Bobby Valentine said that Ells was in a lot pain when he went out to second base to check on him. Ellsbury said he was feeling a little better on the way to the hospital where he was going for tests. If he does have a separated or dislocated soldier he could miss several weeks. The Red Sox are planning on calling up another outfielder just in case. Earlier today we learned that Carl Crawford had a sprained elbow so his recover is delayed leaving the Red Sox with few big names to roam the outfield grass.
UPDATE: Early reports are that Ellsbury has a dislocated shoulder and will be out 6-8 weeks.
