<![CDATA[The suddenly free-wheeling Los Angeles Rams are on a roll.
Shortly after news broke of the Rams' trade talks involving franchise-tagged Trumaine Johnson, they applied a low-level, original-round tender to restricted free-agent defensive tackle Dominique Easley, profootballtalk.com reported Tuesday, citing a league source.
The tender offer is worth $1.797 million, and Los Angeles would earn a first-round draft pick if another teams signs Easley to an offer sheet the team doesn’t want to match, according to profootballtalk.com’s Mike Florio.
Turfshowtimes.com, however, reported that the highest pick the Rams can get is a second-rounder. Either way, the move gives the Rams some leverage heading into 2017.
The 25-year-old Easley is a 2014 first-round draft selection of the New England Patriots who came to the Rams before the 2016 season. Los Angeles signed him in May after the Patriots cut him a month earlier.

Easley played in all 16 games for L.A., coming off the bench. Easley had 35 tackles (24 solo) and 3.5 sacks. He also forced a pair of fumbles and had one pass deflection for the Rams. His Patriots career consisted of 22 games over two season with three starts.
He posted 22 career tackles with an interception and a pass deflection in New England. The Florida Gators alum had three sacks in two seasons for the Patriots.
The Easley tender and rumors of the Johnson trade show that the franchise does seem to have a plan to restock the shelves on both offense and defense, adding quality depth around its vaunted defensive line as well as its 2016 No. 1 overall draft pick, Jared Goff.
