It was announced this morning that all the contract mumbo jumbo is done and the deal is done. The Sox are sending Gonzalez, Beckett, Punto and Crawford to the Dodgers and getting back James Loney and prospects Rubby De La Rosa, Jerry Sands, Allen Webster and Ivan de Jesus.
Additionally, it is reported that the Red Sox are only play 12 million dollars of the money which is owed to Gonzo, Beckett, Punto and Crawford. That is a huge win for the Red Sox. I had initially assumed that the Sox would still have to pay a portion of all of the big contracts to make this deal go through. The Sox were able to get out under those big contracts of old and move on in a new direction.
I still don’t know how we replace Adrian Gonzalez, but I guess we are going to find out.
