During an appearance on WEEI, ESPN Insider, Buster Olney reported that the Red Sox have lost faith in catcher, Jarrod Saltalamacchia. He believes that the Sox will upgrade the catching position before the trade deadline.
If you are going to upgrade the catching position, you should target Joe Mauer. He is one of the best, if not the best catcher in baseball and would fit in well with the Red Sox. The Sox have had interest in Mauer before and have also offered to take on most of Mauer's contract in the past.
Salty hasn't been good as he was last year, so this would be a wise decision by the Red Sox.
