John Lackey took the mound for the Sox and he was unable to get his second win in a row. Lackey didn't pitch horribly, however the Sox bats were unable to get to Alexi Ogando.
Lackey started the game by giving up a leadoff HR to Ian Kinsler to put the Sox in a 0-1 hole. The Sox got the run back in the 2nd when Papi hit a double and then Nava hit an RBI single to bring him home. Unfortunately, that would be the only time the Sox broke the scoreboard in this game. In the 4th, Lackey would find some trouble. He issued two walks in the inning and also gave up an RBI single to Gentry. Will Middlebrooks made an error, his 2nd in the game, to allow a 2nd run to score. Sox 1-3.
Lackey pitched 5 innings and then handed the ball over to the bullpen. Andrew Miller pitched a scoreless 6th and then Junichi Tazawa pitched a scoreless 7th. In the 8th, Koji Uehara took the mound and wouldn't have himself a high five innings. Uehara gave up a 2 run HR to Gentry to have the Sox trailing 1-5.
That would be all that the Sox wrote last night. Lester takes on Darvish tomorrow afternoon and they hope to not get swept out of Arlington.
Red Sox 1 Rangers 5 BOXSCORE
