The Sox were only able to get one run across the plate and that was during the 7th inning when Napoli hit an RBI double to plate Pedroia.
Lester started the bottom of the 7th inning, but wouldn't be able to finish it. Lester gave up a single to Ichiro and then a bunt single to Stewart. Lester was out of the game and Miller was in. Lester struggled all night, but in the end he still gutted through and kept his team within striking distance. Lester's line for the night was 6.1 IP, 116 pitches, 6 H, 4 R, 4 BB and 5 Ks. Miller ended up giving up the RBI hit to Gardner to score Lester's 4th run of the night. Clayton Mortensen pitched the 8th and then the Sox bats were to face Mariano Rivera.
