Sox Offense Silenced in Loss to Rangers

The Red Sox came off a game where they bashed away and scored 17 runs, but the same would not be the case last night.  The Sox offense was only able to squeak out 2 runs and fell to the Rangers.  John Lackey would take the mound for the Sox and Alexi Ogando fresh off the DL for the Rangers.

Lackey continued to pitch well since he has returned from the DL.  Lackey only made one mistake and Adrian Beltre hit a solo HR in the 4th.  Sox 0-1.  Lackey pitched through the 6th and when he left the game he was looking at a loss while still pitching a quality start.  Lackey's line for the night was 108 pitches, 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 BB and 5 Ks.  In the bottom of the 6th Dustin Pedroia would get Lackey off the hook for the loss when he hit a solo HR just barely to the Monster.  Sox 1-1.

It wouldn't be long before the Rangers grabbed the lead back though.  Breslow came in for the 7th and gave up a double and a walk.  With one out Breslow was out and Uehara was in the game.  With one pitch, Uehara gave the Rangers the lead with an RBI double to Andrus.  Sox 1-3. Tazawa came out and pitched a scoreless 8th inning and then the Sox got one run back in the bottom of the 8th.  Napoli walked and then came home when Salty hit an RBI double.  Sox 2-3.  Bailey pitched a scoreless 9th inning, but the Sox bats weren't able to get anything against Twins closer Joe Nathan and lost the second game of the series.
