The Red Sox offensive struggles continued last night as they were shut out by the Orioles 6-0. The team managed just four hits in the game and had now answer for O's starter Tillman who went seven scoreless innings and only gave up two hits. Ellsbury, Pedroia and Ortiz were the only ones to get hits in the game. The bottom half of the order was a combined 0-13 in the game.
John Lackey struck out the first batter but then got into a jam and a gave up an opposite field 2-run homer in the first. He gave up two additional homers in the game, one in the fifth and seventh.
The loss combined with the Rays beating the Yankees last night dropped the team into second place in the AL East.
