Red Sox Call Up Alex Wilson and Option Daniel Nava

After last night’s game John Farrell said that Shane Victorino might not be activated today because of how much the bullpen has been taxed due to the short starts of both Buchholz and Lester.  Farrell hinted that an arm may get called up from Pawtucket instead.  So in not surprising news, the Sox announced today that they called up pitcher Alex Wilson and optioned Daniel Nava to Pawtucket.  With the problem of too many outfielders, Daniel Nava was the only real option since he’s been struggling for the month of April and he is the only outfielder who has options and does not need to be designated for assignment.  Nava had the season of his career last season, however he hasn’t been able to repeat the same kind of magic in 2014.   Hopefully Nava rekindles whatever was working for him last season in Pawtucket and this isn’t the last time we see him up with the Red Sox.
