Sox Lose Another Game, This Time 4-2 to the Jays

Last week the Jays starter Stroman almost threw a no hitter against the Red Sox and the team would get a chance to get their revenge last night.  Unfortunately the Red Sox still had trouble with Stroman and Rubby De La Rosa didn’t have his usual dominant stuff at the friendly confines of Fenway.

Toronto went out to a quick lead when Rasmus hit a solo HR in the 2nd inning.  Sox 0-1.  The Red Sox were able to tie the game in the 3rd when Holt hit a single and then Pedey hit an RBI double to bring him home.  Sox 1-1.  The tie ball game did not last for long though as Rubby De La Rosa gave up 2 more runs in the 4th.  De La Rosa gave up a 2 run RBI double to Gose to score Francisco and Rasmus.  Sox 1-3.  All the momentum that the Sox had was suddenly gone.  De La Rosa pitched through the 6th inning, but was in line for his first loss at Fenway.  His pitching line was 112 pitches, 6 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 2 BB and 1 K.

Mujica pitched a scoreless 7th and then Miller pitched a scoreless 8th.  Tazawa took the mound in the 9th and he gave the Jays another insurance run.  Tazawa has a runner at 3rd with one out and the Jays went up 4-1 with an RBI sac grounder from Melky Cabrera.  The Sox were able to get that run back when Xander Bogaerts hit a solo HR in the bottom of the inning off Jays closer Janssen, but that is all the offense could muster.

Red Sox 2  Blue Jays 4  BOXSCORE

WP: Stroman (7-2)   LP: De La Rosa (3-4)  SV: Janssen (17)
