With one week remaining until the latest Takeover special, NXT once again delivered. This week’s show saw a lot of intensity to get us ready for the international special next Wednesday.
The show started with Enzo Amore and Big Cass showing us a new side. No exaggerated entrance, no interaction with the fans, just a straight-to-the-point hard-hitting message to current champions Dash and Dawson. This should be an amazing tag team match at Takeover.
Really glad to see Tye Dillinger get his own vignette. The “10” gimmick really seems to be taking off with the NXT crowd. Several top guys on the NXT roster are primed to be called up to the main roster at any moment – new stars need to be created. I think Dillinger can fill one of those holes.
Asuka with another strong performance in front of her Takeover adversary Emma. Asuka and Nia Jax seem to be the cream of the crop of the post-4 Horsewomen era of NXT Divas. I can’t wait to see that match.
Blake, Murphy and Alexa Bliss were sporting some Freddy Kruger themed gear…that just deserves to be mentioned on its own.
I’m intrigued by these “guitar” promos that we have been seeing the last few weeks. Wondering where this will lead. Until they, hey, the guy has a decent voice!
Looking forward to seeing how the Hype Bros transition to the main roster. Mojo Rawley has spent some time recently with the main roster so it could be happening soon.
What a great return vignette for Sami Zayn! An ode to the match that put him out…which I am still just amazed at the things he did in the ring that night with only one good arm! I still say Sami Zayn/John Cena would make an epic WrestleMania match this year!
The main event did a great job of creating addition hype for the top two matches of Takeover next week. Apollo Crews and Baron Corbin left the arena brawling – as they should of. Their match will be physical and intense. Conversely, Samoa Joe and Finn Balor can put on a solid all-around match, which we got a taste of this week. I’m pulling for Joe in this one just because I want Balor on the main roster as soon as possible!
