Rob Harley helps us to 34

There are only 34 days left until the start of the 2010 football season, meaning there’s precisely one person this day should be dedicated to: our very own Rob Harley.

Rob Harley helps us to 34
#34 looks ready to commit some violence

Rob Harley joined the Buckeyes as a walk-on in 2001 as a Safety from Elmhurst, Illinois.  He redshirted and spent 5 years at Ohio State, finishing his final season for the Scarlet and Gray in 2005.  Rob managed to make it on the field on the special teams unit in 2003 and made his mark with his hard work and dedication.  He impressed the coaching staff so much that they granted him a scholarship for his last season as a Buckeye.  That’s a rare honor for a walk-on, usually only given to a couple each year and always for displaying hard work and tenacity in all facets of life.

But Rob’s story doesn’t end there.  He has since gone on to become a featured analyst for “The Football Fever on ABC 6” with Clay Hall and Dimitrious Stanley.  For the last several seasons he has been on the sidelines covering some of the biggest games of the last decade.  He’s also been in the unique position to provide insight into the inner workings of the Jim Tressel machine.  He has also been seen kicking around the internet at a place he likes to call “Harley in the Huddle”, a fine collection of football related musings.  Rob has also spent some time around our place with his fantastic analysis videos.

In 2009, Rob kick-started a charity known as Harley Helping Hands, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people suffering from Brain Cancer.  While based primarily in the Chicagoland area, HHH has stretched out into Columbus where the organization put on a golf outing just about a week ago.  This work has already begun providing families with relief in their troubled times.

Rejoice!  Only 34 more days left!
