Dionte Christmas

Christmas in July

Dionte Christmas’ great play in Summer League has been rewarded. ESPN Boston’s Greg Payne first tweeted that Boston has signed Christmas to a partially guaranteed contract/camp invite. Our own John Karalis, in Vegas for Summer League, said that Christmas told him he’d be flying to Boston tonight to “sign papers”.

Celtics Director of Player Personnel Austin Ainge talked to John about Dionte after the game:

“He’s had a great summer league and he had a great year last year in Europe.  He’s a very good player.  He’s an NBA player.”

It will be interesting to see how Dionte does in camp & the preseason against bonafide NBA pros. I like Christmas’ game, and he told John yesterday that he’d been offered “crazy numbers” to play overseas, but prefers to play in the NBA. Since coming out of Temple University in 2009, Christmas has spent most of his professional career playing overseas in Greece and the Czech Republic.
