On last year’s season and his knee injury:
I was really excited with way we played in 2nd half… I really thought we had an opportunity to play for a championship, but injuries hurt us down the stretch. There was so much we had to overcome. Hopefully we can stay healthy.
The knee is a lot better. It’s not completely healed about 90% now. It really hampered me the last 10-15 games of the year, I couldn’t explode… but everyone is dealing with injuries that time of year.
On the new acquisitions:
I love what DA’s been able to do. Once we signed Kevin we knew we were going to make another run. I thought Danny did a good job trying to replace Ray Allen, as you know he went off to Miami. It was his choice, he was a great teammate and a lot of fun playing with him. Jason Terry, Courtney Lee, a healthy Jeff Green, even some of our rookies, we’ve added a lot more depth and it’s going to take a lot of pressure off me this upcoming season.
On the importance of Kevin Garnett:
He’s everything to us. If you don’t bring Kevin back, you’re talking about rebuilding. They’re probably talking about trading me at some point.
On Ray Allen leaving for Miami:
It’s going to be a little weird, but Ray made the best decision for him. You get in free agency and you make a decision that’s best for you and your family. Ray will always be a brother to me. If it wasn’t for him I probably wouldn’t be wearing a championship ring.
MM: Have you talked to him since his decision?
A couple texts… I’m a little bitter that he went to Miami but he’s still a brother of mine.
Paul Pierce sat down with Molly McGrath for his first interview of the off-season. The Truth sounds genuinely optimistic about the Celtics retooled roster.
Pierce has no hard feelings over Ray Allen’s decision to leave Boston for Miami.
I wish I felt the same.
