We often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics. Here’s a look at some enemy chatter from Philadelphia.
So maybe it’s true that those who don’t remember history are doomed to repeat it. After all, the loss to the veteran Celtics in the playoffs last season still remains fresh in the minds of the Sixers. And when Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo wound themselves up for those fourth-quarter assaults, the Sixers remembered what happened last May.
It didn’t happen this time.
Instead, the Sixers had the answer. There was a three-pointer from Jason Terry with 10:41 remaining in the game to whittle the Sixers’ lead to just four points, but Lavoy Allen answered with a dunk on a nifty pass from Holiday and a tip-in off a rebound.
A three-pointer from Turner and a layup and foul from Young turned into a 10-0 run for the Sixers.
Then, there was an alley-oop from Rondo to Garnett for his 19th of a season-high 20 assists to cut it to a two-possession game, but this time Young had the answer again with a turnaround hook on another smooth pass from Holiday.
The Celtics staged one more rally to cut it to a four-point game with 27.1 seconds left, but Turner regrouped from missing two foul shots just 10 seconds earlier to sink two to ice it.
Clutch.
I absolutely hate pulling Enemy Chatter quotes after Celtics losses.
The truth hurts. Watching the Truth has been painful, too.
