About 2 years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting die-hard Celtics fan Chris H, aka “Hal Dogg” at TD Garden. This guy is just full of energy and Celtic Pride. He’s at the Garden for pretty much every home game with the attitude that the Celtics are going to win, no matter what.
Chris, a 23 year-old C’s fan from Blackstone, Ma, became a serious follower of the guys in green around 1997:
It was opening night at the garden, and Antoine Walker was going up against Michael Jordan. The game was an absolute shootout, with Antoine Walker outscoring Michael Jordan as well as the Celtics beating the Bulls. The intensity and atmosphere that Antoine brought that night made me start to watch the Celtics on a nightly basis.
He lists his current favorite player as none other than Kevin Maurice Garnett-aka The Big Ticket:
My current favorite player is Kevin Garnett. The emotion and intensity the man brings to the jungle on a nightly basis is electric. From the chest pumping on the opening tip off, to the constant chirping and stare downs during the game. Kevin Garnett is definitely a man I would love to have a beer with.
Chris has been fortunate enough to attend quite a few great games at the Garden over the past few seasons. Like Nate Robinson’s huge ECF Game 6 performance against Orlando in 2010 and the Celtics’ big ECSF victory that same year:
May 13, 2010 Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Cleveland Cavaliers when I witnessed LeBron James’ last game in a Cleveland Cavalier uniform. The jungle was electric, with the “New York Knicks” chants echoing throughout. Cleveland was favored to win that series in 5-6 games, and the Celtics upset them in 6 games.
So next time you’re at the Garden, keep an eye out for Chris-you just may run into him. You can also follow him on Twitter, where he’s always involved in some sort of discussion involving our beloved Celtics. Big thanks to Chris for his participation, and thank you all for reading. UBUNTU.
